Deadline for entries: Friday, Sept 5th 2025 at midnight
This show will run Friday, Sept 19th to Sunday, Nov 2nd 2025
Please read our general submission guidelines carefully at https://metchosinartpod.ca/sub... as these go over important general information.
A talisman is anything that holds the power to deeply influence our feelings or actions. It could be an object, an image, or even an idea—imbued with meaning by the one who carries it. From tattoos to heirlooms, from ritualistic forms to deeply personal artifacts, we invite you to explore the enigmatic world of symbols, mysteries, and hidden powers through art and further invite you to reflect: What do we consider sacred? How do we carry protection and power through our lives? And in what ways do objects transcend their physical form to become something more?
Go as wide with the definition of Talisman as you wish. We encourage submissions that play with the ordinary expectations of the theme and bring a soul to it.
All work will be juried by an independent juror: Scott Robertson. Please check out his work on Instagram: @scottrobertsonarts or his Website https://www.scottrobertsonarts.com
The Juror of the show will only see your image, medium and artist statement. You will have 1000 words to create an artist statement that situates the work submitted with your artist practice and the theme of the show. It is important that you spend some time composing it as it will be used by the juror in considering how the works with the theme and understand the nature of the work. Please keep in mind your statement will be used verbatim in the exhibition book that will be send to the Library and Archives Canada, as a permanent record of the exhibition and your work. For image quality, see submission guidelines on the Metchosin ArtPod website.
ArtCall will time out after an hour and anything not saved will disappear, so it is recommend for longer text you writing it in a word processor then cut and paste the passage into ArtCall as the website times out in one hour. Also, update (Save) the submission frequently with the update button at the end of the page.
Here is a quick tutorial for you to watch to help you with the submission process.
